Hack the Harbor Hop! How to Crush this Fall’s Poker Hop

by | Sep 27, 2018 | Live Like a Local

The 33rd Annual Fall Harbor Hop takes place at Lake of the Ozarks on October 13. The Fall Harbor Hop is a lake-wide poker hop, and it’s a great last chance to get on the lake and enjoy yourself before the weather turns cold. At this year’s fall Harbor Hop, there are more than 40 participating locations ready to help you get a winning poker hand.

The Harbor Hop is always a fun day at Lake of the Ozarks, but the best kind of event is one where you might leave with a little extra cash in your pocket. Here is a list of things you need to know if you’re going to crush the Harbor Hop Poker Hop:

1: How to register

Participants can register at more than 40 locations on the lake. All you have to do is sign up and pay an optional 20 dollar donation. Pro-tip: If you’re in it to win, you are allowed to enter more than once.

You will draw your first card at the checkpoint where you sign up. A list of all participating locations is at the bottom of this post!

2: How to brag about your hand a little

Anyone who plays poker knows that it’s psychological, and that doesn’t change just because you’re on the water. If you really want to get competitive, other people have to see how your round is going. To really get into the game, post a picture of your poker hand in the RaftUp app activity feed! The RaftUp app can help you play mind games with your opponents, talk some friendly smack, and prove to your competitors that you’re in it to win it.

The video below shows you how to post in the RaftUp Activity Feed!

3: How to find your way

If you’re having trouble hopping the harbor, the RaftUp can help! If you ever get disoriented, you can pull up the RaftUp app to find your way. We have mapped out all of the participating locations with the Harbor Hop logo. This will help you navigate the twists and turns of the Lake of the Ozarks, and help you get the 7 cards you need to succeed. You can filter points of interest by hitting the funnel icon in the top left corner of the map. The photo gallery below shows you how to filter points of interest, so that only Harbor Hop icons are displayed.

4: How to enter your hand

When you get to your last checkpoint, you will have 7 cards in your hand. At that point, whether you have a royal flush or a low high, you’ve had a great day on the lake and have at least the slightest chance of coming away from it with a prize. If you win, you will be notified by certified mail.
We know you’ll have a great time at the Fall Harbor Hop! If this is your last outing on a boat in 2018, we hope that your boating season has been sunny, exciting, and safe.

EDITORS NOTE:

A previous version of this article was titled “How to Crush this Fall’s Poker Run”. Harbor Hop is a “Poker Hop”, as there is to be no running or racing between stops. References to “running” have thus been amended to “hopping”.

Hop safely out there, Rafters!
